Religion classes offer students knowledge about the Catholic faith as well as other religions. Through these courses, students explore the meaning of personal faith and are challenged to grow spiritually. They are encouraged to respond to God's call to discover and develop personal strengths and talents in order to serve communities to which they belong and those they will become members of in the future. Many times, their participation in service learning projects, coordinated through Ministry & Service, are the first opportunities that students have to go beyond personal needs and desire to help others. Service to others offers them an education that will remain with them for a lifetime.

Department Highlights 

  • CJ Service Leaerning Projects have a different focus each year:

    • Rel. 9: Service through CJ Ministry and Service

    • Rel. 10: Service to the CJ community

    • Rel. 11: Service to the greater Dayton area, immersing young men and women in real life social issues

    • Rel. 12: Service to a national or international cause, including the missions of the founding orders

  • The Sister Dorothy Stang memorial mural project originated from Rel. 11 classes and created by students. The mural is located in the community computer lab in the lower level of the school.

  • REL 103 is a dual enrollment course with the University of Dayton and CJ; students receive three (3) credits from UD.
