Department Highlights 

  • CJ is ranked 13 out of 884 Ohio schools for participation in Science Fair 2012

    • 12 students qualified for the County Fair

    • 6 students qualified for the District competition

    • 4 students qualified for State

  • Science Olympiad is a competitive team consisting of young men and women from every grade level. The academic team competes in 23 different science-related events across all STEMM fields.  Students are encouraged to try out at the beginning of each academic year.  Thirty-five students are participating during the 2011-2012 school year.

  • The science department works in conjunction with CJ STEMM and the curriculum supported by Project Lead the Way.

  • CJ is the only Catholic high school in the state of Ohio to offer the Project Lead the Way curriculum, offering students the opportunity to explore engineering and biomedical sciences career fields before spending college dollars.

  • CJ is one of 11 high schools nation-wide (and the only Catholic high school) to be dually certified in Project Lead the Way biomedical sciences and engineering programs.

  • The science program offers dissection project opportunities at CJ— worms, frogs, crayfish, rats, fish, fetal pigs, sheep hearts, sheep brain, cow eyes, and adult cats—in the study of biomedical sciences.
