Eagle Tradition

Student athletes who compete for CJ quickly learn that they are expected to play at a level of excellence that not only helps them develop as players and teammates, but in a manner that honors the tradition of those who came before them.  Built on a strong foundation of athletic prowess, determination, and hard work, CJ athletes play with pride not only for themselves and their teammates, but for the many supporters, alumni, parents, and fans of the Eagles.

Student athletes are mentored by coaches (60% CJ alumni) and staff who impress upon young athletes the meaning of being an Eagle. They are challenged to live out their commitment to faith development and spiritual growth from practice to field. Coaches and counselors also challenge students to be at the top of their game academically while participating in extra-curricular activities like athletics. Hard work and discipline pays off on many levels including the school winning the Harold A. Meyer Award for excellence in sportsmanship, through student-athletes who earn scholarships to outstanding universities and colleges, have the ability to develop into Heisman trophy vote earners, become Gatorade players of the year, or are as voted all-district and all-state athletes.

The school continues to challenge itself in providing athletes with opportunities to push themselves to greater levels of play. One example is through its membership in two outstanding leagues--the men’s teams in the Greater Catholic League and the women’s teams in the Greater Girl’s Cincinnati League. The school is also in the processes of constructing a tennis facilities, which are expected to open for the 2011-2012 school year, to add to existing practicing and training areas including the Student Conditioning Center and Blue and Green Field. These projects represent important steps the school is taking toward creating a comprehensive downtown campus with a goal of keeping more students on campus for after school practices and training. The commitment to serve students in this way helps enhance the Catholic educational experience CJ provides.
