Teaching Philosophy:

Emphasizing a global perspective is a core value of a  Chaminade Julienne education.  There is no better way to learn about other world views than to study the  languages spoken around the globe.

In my classroom ,empasis is on using Spanish to complete tasks rather than just learning about the language.  Students receive daily practice in listening, reading, speaking and writing Spanish.  Authentic materials are used

as much as possible.  The goal is for students to be able to communicate in Spanish with increasing proficiency as they progress through our sequence of courses.  The use of authentic sources introduces students  to the various cultures where Spanish is spoken and how these people view the world.  This foundation prepares students to succeed in and contribute to our global society.
