Office of Student Services

Maintaining the health and safety of all students is the primary objective of the Office of Student Services. OSS administrators assist students and parents in understanding and the application of the policies and procedures of Chaminade Julienne as outlined in the Student Handbook.

Attendance Policies

Please report absences to the Office of Student Services at 461-3740 (ext. 465) by 9:30 a.m. each day your student is absent.  Absences and tardies due to medical, dental, or other professional appointments are considered excused only with professional documentation provided within seven (7) days of the absence.  Excused absences do not count against student totals for disciplinary purposes, but do count against perfect attendance.  (Handbook p. 22-26)

Tardy Policies

Students not in class by 8:05 a.m. (or 9:42 a.m. on Block late-start days) will be considered tardy.  Tardies after 8:35 a.m. (or any tardies on Block late-start days) must be verified by either a parent note or telephone call.  Excused tardies are given for medical, dental, and court appointments with professional documentation recieved within seven (7) days.  A parent call or note is not considered an excused tardy.  In the case of a car accident, police documentation can also be provided to recieve an excused tardy.  A demerit will be issued for every unexcused tardy after three (3) each semester.   (Handbook p. 25-26)

Early Dismissal Procedures

A student wishing to leave school during the day must present a note from his/her parent to the Office of Student Services by 7:50 a.m.  Parents should indicate in the note the reason for the early dismissal and the time they would like the student to be released.  At this time the student will be issued a pass to leave the appropriate class.  Students are to sign the register in OSS upon leaving and are to check with OSS upon return.  Students leaving school due to medical, court, or other appointments are required to bring professional documentation to OSS within seven (7) days of returning to school in order for the early dismissal to be considered excused.  Students are allowed three (3) unexcused  early dismissals per semester.  A demerit will be issued for each unexcused early dismissal after three.  (Handbook p. 24)
