CJ STEMM Idol Speaker Don Bretl

Where do you begin when asked to find a solution to the perpetual need for clean drinking water, a problem facing more than one billion people around the world? For Procter & Gamble, the answer lies in principles of chemistry, physics and mathematics.

Guest presenter Don Bretl, a mechanical engineer with P&G, will discuss the research, development and production behind his company's Pur water filtration packets.

STEMM Idols from Five Rivers MetroParks

The week leading up to Earth Day, observed April 22, has long been reserved for celebrating environmental education and awareness. The CJ STEMM program is kicking off the week’s activities on the corner of Franklin and Ludlow with two guest presenters from one of Ohio's premier public park systems, Five Rivers MetroParks.

All students are invited to join guests Bob Butts and Elyse Dean of Wegerzyn Gardens during homeroom periods Tuesday, April 16 to learn more about some of the summer volunteer opportunities available there.

Science Fair Engages Area's STEMM Pros

With the help and expertise of local science, technology, engineering, math and medicine (STEMM) professionals, 11 students were selected to advance from the 2013 CJ Science Fair to the Montgomery County Science Day on March 2.

Thanks to the 12 judges who volunteered their time the evening of Feb. 7 to meet, hear from and share insights with this year’s 18 participants across grades 9-12 who presented projects in the cafeteria.

STEMM Idol Speaker Alexandra Bohler

This month’s second CJ STEMM Idol Speaker, a young professional at a local architecture firm, will discuss how she’s used her college degrees to serve others, and how high school students can specifically use the knowledge and tools they posses now to win college scholarships from the Dayton chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA).

New CJ STEMM Center Plans Announced

In order to keep pace with today’s advancements in curriculum and technology, Chaminade Julienne announces plans to open its brand new CJ STEMM Center at the start of school next year. The center will enhance the school’s preeminent Project Lead the Way curriculum for engineering and biomedical sciences. Because of this investment, students living in the greater Dayton region will now have access to a premier science, technology, engineering, math and medicine (STEMM) education delivered within a holistic, Catholic educational experience.
