We are pleased to report the second annual Reunion Weekend celebration was a success! Over 1,200 alumni returned to CJ's campus June 21-22 for a weekend packed full of fun activities.
We started off the weekend with two golf outings on Friday morning, one at Miami Valley Golf Club (for graduates of 1973 and earlier) and the other at Beavercreek Golf Club (for graduates of 1978 and later). More than 120 golfers between the two outings enjoyed a morning on the course with their classmates.
Friday night's Kickoff & Taste of CJ event featured alumni owned and operated restaurants including Amber Rose Restaurant, Marion's Piazza, Company 7 BBQ, Four Columns Catering, Lee's Famous Recipe & Arby's and Jimmie's Ladder 11. Nearly 800 people enjoyed a time to reconnect and reminisce under the tent. It was a night not to be forgotten!
Saturday morning, tennis coach Jim Brooks led more than 20 alumni in matches at our new Eagle Tennis Center. Play was followed by the Golden Eagles Luncheon in the cafeteria, where alumni celebrating 50 years or more enjoyed a catered meal and wonderful conversation. We then welcomed families to the Student Conditioning Center for games and face painting.
We ended the all-class activities with a prayerful Mass at the Immaculate Conception Chapel at the University of Dayton celebrated by current CJ chaplain Fr. Matt Robben, Fr. Tom Schroer, SM '60, and Msgr. Bill Myers '58. The Mass was served by Deacon Bob Allen '58.
The weekend officially ended with individual class parties on Saturday night. Milestone classes from 1953 all the way to 2008 enjoyed a night with their class at 16 different locations in the Dayton area.
The weekend was one for the ages, and we look forward to celebrating with you again next summer. Mark your calendars for Reunion Weekend 2014, scheduled for Friday and Saturday, June 20-21.
