Coach Addresses AFCA Colleagues

Head varsity football coach Marcus Colvin has been invited to present at the 2015 American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Convention.

Colvin will address a group of his high school football coaching peers at the Kentucky International Convention Center in Louisville the morning of Monday, Jan. 12. His presentation is titled, "The All-Around Athlete."

"My focus is going to be on the coaching mission of guiding our young men to be excellent competitors without forgetting to help mentor them to success in life," Colvin said. He's been a member of the AFCA for two years.

According to www.afca.com, this annual national convention is the organization's flagship event. More than 6,000 coaches and 100 speakers from the high school level on up to the professional ranks lecture on a variety of topics over four days.

"This is a great opportunity for me as a coach and for Chaminade Julienne as a school," he said. "I will definitely be speaking on the opportunity our young men have at such a great institution here at CJ, especially in the Marianist and Notre Dame charisms that guide our mission."

Colvin is in the middle of his 11th year as a social studies teacher at CJ and recently finished his fourth season as Eagles head coach. He holds a career record of 26-18 with two playoff appearances including a regional finals finish in 2011.
