Local 7th and 8th grade students were recognized for their award-winning submissions in Chaminade Julienne’s area-wide Catholic Schools Writing Contest during an after-school ceremony on Thursday, March 1.
More than 250 entrants submitted pieces across four categories: fictional short story, fictional short-short story, non-fiction essay and poetry. From that initial pool of students, 47 received awards in each category (1st - 3rd place, plus Honorable Mention recognition).
Winners represented 11 English teachers from classes at nine area grade schools including Ascension, Bishop Leibold, Immaculate Conception, Mother Brunner, St. Albert, St. Brigid, St. Chris, St. Luke and St. Peter.
