Give. Grow. - CJ Day of Giving

As a part of the CJ Annual Fund program, a new effort was developed this year that is geared to inspire and increase participation among more recent CJ graduates and to energize these members of our community to give for the first time.

“Our goal is to recruit 100+ alumni, parents, faculty, staff, and friends who will help us share the good news about CJ so we can fortify our tradition in a strong way,” said Bonner. “During this program, you will see some familiar faces and perhaps some new ones featured who have stepped up to make our Day of Giving a success.”

During the weeks leading up to May 1, volunteers will help CJ spread the word through email, text messages, and through social media stories starting on Sunday, April 18. Additionally, current junior and senior students will make nightly calls from 7:00-8:30 p.m. to ask those to share the Day of Giving message or consider making a gift.

“In this year of adaptation and change, we hope this avenue for giving will allow our community to realize how gifts of all sizes impact the student experience at CJ. We will highlight and share the wonderful memories our students experienced this year, in the midst of a pandemic,” said Bonner.
The May 1 Day of Giving coincides with the Feast Day of St. Joseph the Worker.

“What a beautiful way to honor the life of St. Joseph, who the Holy Father proclaimed this year as the year of St. Joseph,” said Bonner. “Pope Francis wrote in Patris Corde against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic, that St. Joseph has helped us see more clearly the importance of ‘ordinary’ people who, though far from the limelight, exercise patience and offer hope every day.

“Whatever the connection to CJ, we’d love for those who hear our message to participate and unite together for our students today. This act of kindness, might seem quite ordinary to many, but this collective effort can result in such hopefulness for our community.”

Those who wish to help spread the good news of CJ with family, friends, and connections, should contact Elaine Bonner, annual fund coordinator, at (937) 974- 6120, or ebonner@cjeagles.org.
