Jessica Smith '08 Named as Head Cheerleading Coach

Chaminade Julienne welcomes back alumni, Jessica Smith ‘08, as the next head coach for its cheerleading program. Coach Smith comes to CJ with a wealth of experience coaching at the youth and high school levels.

“Jessica is passionate, positive, and energetic,” said Anthony Turner, athletic director. “These are all qualities of a great coach who will empower others to do great things.”

Smith is currently a member of the coaching staff for CJ’s color guard and has previously served as a member of the cheer coaching staff spanning over five years. During her time as a student at CJ, she took part in the cheerleading and dance teams.

With a passion for cheerleading, Smith enjoys seeing students develop confidence in themselves and in each other. “My goal is to create a space where the cheerleaders can come and feel loved, safe, and develop into the cheerleaders they wish to be,” she said. “I am hoping once they leave the program, they feel they have the physical and life skills they need to take with them far beyond their days in the cheer program.”
