Winter Sports Wrap Up

The winter sports season saw new teams, state runs, and new records. Students and coaches tested their limits and grew as a team throughout their seasons.

Highlights for the season included a district and regional championship title as well as an OHSAA State Final Four appearance from boy’s basketball, a district championship title and 5th place state ranking from Jeffrey Blair ‘25 from wrestling, and a OATCCC state championship  title from Te'aira Braham Patrick '25 in the 200m race.

“Work ethic is having an understanding that team and individual goals are only accomplished through a sacrifice of time, energy, and sweat,” said Anthony Turner ‘04, athletic director. “The number of accolades that were collected amongst our winter sports teams is proof that our coaches and student-athletes have great respect for that character trait on and off their specific field/court of play. Our coaches have done a great job of leading by example and making the small things matter.”

“The great coach John Wooden once said that ‘Winning is a by-product of doing all the little things correctly’,” Turner continued.

Congratulations to all students, especially those in the class of 2023 who have participated in their final season.
